    Background
In my classroom I have a rule: Do it nice or do it twice. :P
    – We Chose 2 students to put this strategy in action: "Practicing with a friend instead of always doing homework or studying on your own"
    Class: Reading
Sometimes they have to repeat homework again because their answers are too short or nothing to do with the questions. So, this strategy was perfect. Instead of doing homework at home, they did it during class (The 2 of them)
They were able to ask to each other about the homework; comprehension questions that they might not have understood. They explained each other concepts and clarified doubts they had. Furthermore, by reading the story again and again, they retained information better. It was really rewording to observe how these two young boys were discussing the questions, debating each point, and arguing their own opinions or answers. They looked at problems from different perspectives. This was very helpful in developing their critical-thinking. Doing Homework alone can be boring or can get distracted very easily but from what we've observed, doing HW with a friend can be fun, they made jokes, created funny examples, they laughed a lot. To my surprise, their answers were quite well aligned!! And most of all they enjoyed reading together.

    2. Having students interact with other classmates is very useful. Peer interaction is constantly used in order to allow the students to develop empathy and this allows them to eleminate shame or doubt on their own ideas. Two minds will always work better than one and that permits the kids to become more critical thinkers. This gives them the confidence to make better decisions and giving them the skills to make corrections and edit their own work. This also will allow them to not feel stressed or feel overwhelmed when presenting their work to the teacher.

    3. This strategy is always helpful Jules and I myself have implemented it in my classes working with peers, they seem to have fun and learn from each other, some students even feel more confident in asking other classmates instead going to the teacher and it is a social and fun way for students to support each other and learn together. Working with peers always seems a really good strategy that helps them a lot in the learning process and the practice of their social skills in the same environment.

    6. All the strateqies are importante.
The Whatever the method that is imposed in the future, it seems clear that the line to follow is a greater autonomy of the students. In this sense, new technologies allow this freedom, making available to students study resources, tools and even educational communities.

  3. Said is a 10 year old student in Rosa Agazzi Bilingual School, that has recently been admitted from a monolingual school. It has been determined that his learning preferences tend to be more visual and he is considered to be a social learner. Since his goal is to learn English as a Second Language, the following learning strategies have been implemented, affective and memorization. Acknowledging these strategies, we will continue to utilize his interest in the arts, using association and different methodologies to channel his interest in his learning. Since he is a student that utilizes receiving extra points as motivation in his studies, we believe that using metacognitive strategies where he is able to measure his own performance, he will be able to perform at a higher level and create a greater degree of autonomy. With this strategy we can focus on making a visual representation of his progress, as well as focusing on stamina and grit to increase his interest and motivation.

    1. I really like how you came up with this strategy, and how this kid can be motivated, the memory demands of school-aged children are more regimented then they were a decade ago. While many schools’ main teaching strategies are not mainly on memorization, but more on higher-order thinking skills, the ability to memorize information is still vastly important. Very nice!!!

    2. Thank you for your participation Group 2 (daniela, sylvia, maria jose) If you have more time during your class time, it would be wonderful to try the 11 strategies and see which ones work beter for this paritcular student since he is in that process of learning a L2 that he has little input from all his surroundings.
I am pleased with your finding.

  4. In my classroom I always try to focus on making my learning process fun, my rule is "If it's not fun, we're not doing it." So my classes tend to be very engaging and most of the time involving games and, taking advantage of their age, gender based challenges between boys and girls (DUH!).

So I decided to implement, with help from my fellow 4th grade teachers to make a little get together of all the grade this week, to try and apply the 10th Strategy, engaging in conversations with other people when possible. For this case I chose a kid name Noé (Noah in the classroom). Noah arrived to the school this year with very limited speaking skills, which were also reflected on his writing. He came from a fairly little bilingual school and it showed on him. He was very shy and mostly in his own world in the beginning, but as time has passed he's started to mature.

He was the target of my exercise because he was the new kid from the block and he could really benefit from the exercise. He started conversation with some kids from the other sections, but in the end he sparked conversation with a mate from our own section. Apparently they have found topics in common, especially Fort-Nite, and several video games. The purpose of this conversation exercise is to share and exercise their speaking abilities. Then to present in front of the class and tell about their experience. He was very fulfilled in finding a friend and that he also got to practice beyond classroom time, we took them out to the gardens, and the results so far have been pretty satisfactory, looking forward to repeating the experience.

    1. I agree with this strategy. It is nice, fun, and useful. Most of the time kids only mingle with their classmates. At tje moment of interacting with others they act in a shy way, mostly if they are new students. This strategy helps them practice the second language, become more fluent and also to socialize with others.

Very satisfied with your work. Thumbs up for you.

    Active and honest kid
Saul is a respectful , honest child affecionate , but is a very active child he is always, always playing with everythin g that he sees . He stand up alot. play with the pencil , sing , dance .
So one of the strategies we choose is to put him as a helper :
    He pass out books
    Give the crayons
    Give the pencils
When he is a helper he is always happy , he needs physical activity that can provide a break from seat work .

it may reduce fighting with classmate , tolerance for seat work class
using videos , pictures , using games to give the classs make him be in movement for a long period of time .

    2. For this active kids you can reward them too,for good manners encourage them to establish order and let them know what is expected of him or her the best way to deal with active kids is to engage his mind and body and channelise their energy this strategy helps a lot!

    3. Receive as a reward social reinforcement and consistent punishments, simply, in suffering the consequences of the things you do wrong. It is advisable that the classroom has buildings appropriate to age and other games, to be able to use them as a prize, in general with all children and in particular with him.

  7. Zareck is an 8 year old boy with asperqer

Asperger's syndrome (AS) is included in the Generalized Developmental Disorders (PDD) and is considered an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It was described by Hans Asperger in 1944, by identifying a pattern of behavior and very specific skills, predominant in boys. He called it "psychopathy.

At times we observed that Zareck was congenial with some of his classmates so we encouraged him to accompany them at recess, dining room

we also include it to participate in games or group activities. He was included or a social skills program although it is difficult for them to perform them, they are able to acquire them. Therefore it is interesting to integrate them.

it should be emphasized that inclusion in the ordinary school is the best option since the student has adequate models to carry out a good evolution of the student's abilities with Asperger and have a good support team.

The evolution has been positive, an important aspect that should be taken into account in schools is the creation of the preferred classrooms for children with SA-AAF, spaces endowed with specific resources for this type of student body and not limit the educational environment

  9. My student is a 12 year old girl who had a lot of trouble with Social Studies because the way she studied was by memorizing THE WHOLE CHAPTER. I noticed she was very stressed because it was very hard for her to really learn about the class. As I got to know her I found out she understand better when I gave them a quick summary about the lesson. So I used with her the strategy of "taking notes and highlighting important points". I gave her tips on how to take those important notes, on doing concept maps and so on. She then felt less stress taking the important notes and studying only from those notes and now she understands that not everything that is written in the book is importante. I decided as well to do the same with all the class since I saw that she now enjoys the class and she even participate more. I think it's important for students to learn how to take notes so that when they get to college they now already how to do so and it could be easier for them as well.

I applied the eleventh strategy ,workind out what distracts you from working and using those distractions. The teacher Johan had before sat him apart from his classmates and they did not accept him ,but I changed that because no student can be left out in my classroom.
I used my clssroom helpers chart and spoke with Johan ,I told him he would be on my chart as my special helper if he works during the week ,behaves and is nice to his classmates ,he had never been on the chart so he was intrested .This has worked for me ,because know he works ,behaves and gets along with his classmates. That makes me feel happy because know he is part of the group. 11. Student profile
    Name Luis Diego
Age 9 years and 7 months
Learning problem with reading and writing, being its biggest problem, writing
Luis Diego is a child with a well-developed common sense, with characteristics of written dyslexia not yet diagnosed and in evaluations for a second psychological evaluation, Luis Diego had already had a psychological evaluation in pre-school age due to learning problems during that period. period. Luis Diego is not my student in the classroom, he is a child to whom I give tutorials a little more than a year ago, Luis Diego does not have problems of retention or memorization. Luis Diego's problem is to express his knowledge through reading. Well, he does not write as he pronounces, he confuses some letters with others.
Learning technique that I have applied with Luis Diego.
Using Word cards to memorize vocabulary
I ask Luis Diego to read a reading of his choice. With directed reading I correct the words that Luis Diego assumes does not read. (characteristic of dyslexia), then I ask Luis Diego to write me what he understood from the reading. Obviously Luis Diego miswrites 50 percent of what he wants to convey. These misspelled words I ask you to read them to me, to make me the drawing of each word that forms sentences with those words and that associates them with the story that I read.
It has given me an excellent result, because Luis Diego has had a very noticeable improvement in all his classes, because I keep in communication with his teacher to exchange techniques to improve the learning of Luis Diego.
